Financial Controller opportunity near Harrogate.

c£65K, great benefits and career prospects. This company supplies thousands of environment improvement products to retail and professional markets globally, with 650 people across 18 sites in the UK, Europe, USA and India.

We are on the lookout for an astute UK Financial Controller to provide financial input and analysis for the UK part of the business, working with the General Manager and Group CFO and involved in all business activities and new initiatives.

This role provides an opportunity to play a leading role within a fast-paced Finance team, to take ownership of and to provide support to colleagues.

Key Accountabilities:

The UK Financial Controller will manage a team of 6, responsible for the accounting and financial reporting for a number of company entities, from ensuring day-to-day transactions are entered into the accounting system correctly, through to meeting all internal and external reporting requirements in full, on time and with high accuracy.

Monthly Reporting

You will be comfortable working to short month end deadlines, as well as regular external reporting requirements.

  • Submitting accurate monthly accounts to Group Finance that have been fully reviewed.
  • Providing detailed commentary to Regional General Manager to assist their understanding of the monthly financial performance.
  • Ensure that financial reporting complies with relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure that external reporting requirements for the business are met, including VAT, Intrastat, EC Sales, ONS surveys.

Forecasting and Budgeting

  • Partner with the business to produce the annual budget
  • Collaborate in the design of budget holder reviews using analysis of actuals vs budget with stakeholder requirements and feedback
  • Identify opportunities to work with Operations to improve profitability based on analysis of the financials.
  • Prepare weekly cashflow forecasts and drive improvement in net working capital

Controls

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and review reconciliations completed by the Assistant Accountant on a monthly basis implementing improvements and efficiencies as needed and escalating risks to the Group CFO.

Other

  • Line management responsibility for the AP /AR Manager and Assistant Accountant.
  • Work closely with company group auditors to ensure the smooth completion of annual financial audits.
  • Adhoc support to the Group Finance team as and when required.
  • Adhoc support and partnering with the wider business as and when required.

To succeed in this role you will be able to demonstrate a successful history of working in a fast paced working environment, with knowledge to allow you to fulfil the demands of this role:

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).
  • Experience in working in a similar role.
  • Excellent people management skills and experience in managing teams
  • Communicate financial data in a confident and engaging manner to non-financial colleagues.
  • Ability to work productively and flexibly under pressure to meet tight deadlines, especially those at month end.
  • Strong communication skills in order to work alongside colleagues and external parties and a proven track record of Business Partnering at all levels within an organisation.
  • Self-starter who wishes to take ownership of the role and can suggest areas of development to create greater efficiencies within the role.
  • Work well within a team as well independently.

Experience of using SAP Business One, Navision or Microsoft AX would be valued, but not essential.
