Unique opportunity for an experienced workshop / machining Engineer who has trained others, to join an expanding professional training organization, MKC Training, embedded within The Royal School of Military Engineering in Chatham, Kent.
We are looking to appoint a passionate and committed Engineer with workshop / machining experience to instruct military students. You will have strong communication skills, want to teach others, be IT literate and prepared to extend your own skills and knowledge.
Teaching qualification is desirable but not essential as training and qualifications will be provided where relevant.
This post requires the delivery of instruction to Royal Engineer soldier trainees, theory and practical aspects and assessment of the following topics/disciplines:
Engineering drawing techniques (basic) to include – Standard engineering drawing conventions, Isometric, 1st and 3rd Angle projection etc.
Bench fitting workshop practices, processes and materials to include – Health & Safety, precision measurement, filing, marking out, hacksawing, drilling (hand-held power tools and pillar drilling machines), cutting threads, reaming, Off-hand grinding, horizontal band saws and knowledge of all tools and equipment used.
Abrasive wheels (Static and hand-held portable machines) to include – Current regulations, materials used, wheel selection, wheel marking system, handling, storage, wheel mounting techniques and equipment, machine markings, checks and functional testing.
Knowledge of automotive engine technology to include – engine construction, engine and electrical systems (workshop practices and procedures for repair and maintenance).
Precision machining – turning, milling. (Currently these practical skills are only required for the manufacture and preparation of components to support instruction although in-depth knowledge of the operation and use of lathes and milling machines and all accessories is desirable).
TAQA/A1 Assessor qualification
IQA/IV Internal verifier qualification
DTLLS/DET Teaching qualification
