Our client based near Leeds, West Yorkshire, is a precision engineering company that manufactures metal parts for aerospace and power generation industries. They are part of a global manufacturing group, who offer excellent career prospects. Due to business growth they are recruiting a Production Supervisor responsible for aspects of manufacturing operations in one of their component finishing departments.
Candidates should be degree qualified (or equivalent) with enough experience gained from a manufacturing environment, to enable them to take the next step in their career. This is an excellent opportunity as a step towards manufacturing / operations management.
Responsibilities:
- Throughput and WIP:-
- To ensure the production schedules are in line with the company schedules.
- To manage Daily, Weekly and Monthly TOC targets and the daily performance for relevant areas.
- To maintain healthy levels of WIP for efficient operation whilst achieving overall inventory targets.
- To deliver Daily, Weekly and Monthly ESH plans.
- Labour
- To ensure sufficient labour is available to deliver on ESH plans
- To plan and deliver optimum shift planning to deliver ESH plans
- To deliver continuous improvement of labour utilisation metrics for each area
- To plan and manage the use of external sub-contract operations as required
- Plan and deliver operator training to ensure a safe working and a flexible working environment.
- Costs
- To deliver variable cost reduction of 2% quarter on quarter.
- To manage fixed costs.
- To support cost reduction projects as required
- Quality
- To ensure day to day operations are totally compliant with all current procedures
- To ensure all equipment is maintained and operated to current procedures
- Plan and deliver operator training to ensure total compliance with operating procedures
- Work with process and quality engineers to reduce scrap levels
- HS&E
- To maintain high standards of housekeeping in all areas employing 5S methods.
- Manage 100% compliance to specified safe systems of work for all areas.
- Plan and deliver operator training to ensure a knowledgeable safe workforce.
- Ensure all area Risk, COSHH and MSDS Assessment are maintained up to date.
